Blake Neale

Blake Jay Neale 2nd Dan

Hi all, I started my martial arts training at 6 years old with Judo, it didn’t last too long. I enjoyed it; I just think it had a bit too much sitting about for me. At 9 I started Kick-boxing with Bob Comber, 3rd Dan Kick-boxing and 3rd Dan Wado-Ryu karate, he also trained in many other martial arts and did a lot of chi work. After gaining my first belt at Kick-boxing I also then started training in Karate with Bob as well as a new instructor, Shane Edwards 4th Dan in Shukokai. I continued training hard until I left college, training at least 5 times a week. I entered many competitions in this time with some results. I also trained with many other instructors and in other martial arts.

In 2000 I came to Hull University to study Biology, and started training in Gendo-Kai. I have held most positions on the committee as a student and now work in Hull. I liked the club for the social aspect, with very lively nights out a few times a week. I remember Gimps version of the club motto “Train hard, fight easy, drink hard, dance sleazy” which of course he lived by. Other people I remember fondly include Jason, Mikey and Steady. Hope you're all well. I also helped teach the Women’s Self defense classes while at uni, which was always fun, being used as a punch bag.
